Colorado Trip

A brief description of what I have been up to in Colorado.

Wednesday:  My flight got in at around 8pm and Ed picked me up and took me to his friends house in Westminster that we needed to house-sit.  I called it an early night because I was exhausted from the day of traveling.

Thursday:  Ed and I drove up to Nederland and had easy going day as I was still slowly acclimating to the altitude.

Stream on the way up to Nederland.

Friday:  We drove into Denver and met up with Caitlin and Kelsey and went to a place called Bar Bar in downtown Denver.

Kelsey Ed Caitlin and me at Bar Bar.

Saturday:  We stopped in Georgetown  and got some excellent breakfast wraps.  We drove up to Leadville and moved Ed out of his place up there, hung out at the Proving Grounds Coffee Shop.  We also made a stop in Frisco to grab a bike from one of Ed's friends.

Mt Elbert (highest peak in the Rockies) in Leadville.

Sunday: Riley called and had us drive up to Fort Collins and we went to an awesome bar called the Trading Post and hung out there for most of the night.  After we got sick of being at the bar, we went to a 24 hour coffee house called the Alleycat.

The BEST IPA I have ever tasted.

Monday:  Just a day of catching up on rest.

Westward! ....finally.

After having a pretty hectic past couple months, everything is finally starting to fall into place.  On Easter I will be flying out to Colorado for a week and spending some much needed time with some good friends and the mountains(Leadville has been calling my name for far too long).  When I get back from Colorado I only will have three and a half weeks left in Point to get everything taken care of before I take off to Portland.  Then off to Oregon I go, with lots of national park visits on the way.  I will definitely be photo documenting the trip on the way and any kayak spots I hit up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday did not go as planned... Enterprise wouldn't let us go to the Ocean.   Instead we went to Washington Park and hung out in the Japanese Gardens, Hoyt Arboretum and Oregon Zoo.  For pictures go to:  http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=243800&id=516318234&l=616081c3ac .

11/21/2010

I arrived in Portland yesterday afternoon. Beth and I ended up not doing too much, as I was too tired and cranky from my flights. This morning I found a place to get a good cup of coffee across the park from Beth's apartment... I refuse to go to the Starbucks which is located at the base of her building.

Today we spent all day in Lake Oswego with Beth's family.  We went to dinner at the Thirsty Lion which just opened up a week or two ago.  They have an excellent green chili chicken sandwich.... and they have 52 beers on draft!!

Tomorrow morning I am calling enterprise and renting a car for Wednesday so we can drive to Cape Meares on the Pacific coast.

Until next time!

Change of Course

I have changed my mind on how I am going about driving to Portland when I move. My original plan was to hit up as many national parks as possible... Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park...etc. But I have decided that although all those places are fun and exciting, it would be very boring by myself. Now my plan is to visit as many far away friends as possible along the way.

I miss everything in Colorado and would like to be out there soon.
